HSBC has named Mukhtar Hussain, chief executive of the bank in Malaysia, to the newly created position of head of Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) for Asia Pacific.

In his new job, Hussain will be responsible for initiatives and relationships related to HSBC’s Asian BRI business, according to a Monday press release from the bank. Hussain will relocate to Hong Kong, effective July 1, and will continue to report to the bank’s deputy chairman.
