Role Description
Our client is one of the most prestigious conglomerate names in the Construction, Infrastructure, Property and Transport sectors. They are seeking a Commercial Director (Quantity Surveyor background with 15+ years experience) – he / she will be responsible for managing and overseeing the delivery of advisory services and contract-related work, full life cycle projects management and commercial feasibility and relationships management of clients in the construction, property, and infrastructure industry. The incumbent will also be responsible for conducting research, preparing reports, developing and implementing long-term strategic plans, and managing a team.
Responsibilities/ Requirements
Oversee the commercial strategy of contracts on multiple projects, working very closely with the senior operations teams to form collaborative approaches while driving performance and minimizing risk to the business.
-Develop and manage project commercial strategy Effectively manage risk and opportunities Provide contractual, financial and commercial advice to the project team Advising/ensuring contractual compliances requirement;
-Monitor and co-ordinate contractual claims and variation orders Provide inputs to help strategize and resolve complex contractual issues.
-Degree in Quantity Surveying or engineering related discipline with Professional qualification such as MRICS is desirable.
-Minimum 10 – 15 years post-qualification experience of which there must be managerial level experience gained from a main contractor ideally as advantageous.
-Experience of managing a team of commercial/contracts/Subletting staff Thorough knowledge of contract language, change management and legal requirements of contracts. -Excellent negotiation, organizational and communication skills;
-Competent IT skills Fluent written and spoken English Significant claims management/dispute resolution experience on projects of a complex nature Excellent people and leadership skills; -Innovative, result-oriented, self-motivated with visionary ability.
Qualifications
- Chartered Quantity Surveyor with at least 15 years of relevant work experience
- Strong knowledge of the construction industry and experience in project management and contract administration
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team
- Proven track record in business development and generating revenue
- Familiarity with legal and regulatory issues related to the construction industry
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or related field
- Professional certifications in project management and/or contract administration
